NATIONAL SEMINARS
The academic year 2005-06 began with a UGC sponsored national seminar on 'Innovative Practice in Teacher Education for Fostering Creativity among Secondary School Children' held on 6th and 7th June 2005. Participants from the length and breadth of the country shared their innovative ideas in the seminar. Dr. A. Sukumaran Nair, Dr. K.R.Sivadasan, Dr. J.Exemmal, Dr. Ummed Singh, Dr. M.K.Ramachandran Nair, Vice Chancellor, University of Kerala and many other educational experts interacted with the participants.
NAAC sponsored seminar on 'Student Empowerment Through Value Education' was inaugurated by Dr.S.Lakshmi, Former Vice Chancellor, Mother Theresa Womens' Uiversity, Kodaikkanal in the ceremonial function held in the college auditorium on 12th March 2007 which lasted for two days. Dr. V.Jayaprakash PVC, Dr.K.Subbammal, Prof (Dr.)B.Hridayakumari, Swamy Poorna Amrithanandapuri, Dr (Fr.) M.K.George, and the enriched participants made the seminar a grand success. Themes presented during the seminar were: Value Education: Concept and Practices, Role of Teacher Education in Value Development,Globalization and Values &Challenges in implementation, Strategies for Value Based Education.
UGC sponsored national seminar on 'Capability Building in Students: Concerns and Challenges in Teacher Education' was organized on 26th and 27th March 2009 which highlighted the relevance of moulding students into socially responsible and competent citizens and categorically analysed the components of teacher qualities and competencies for achieving the aim to its maximum extent. The teacher educators who attended the seminar were enriched in their areas through the expert talks, group discussions and presentations in their seminar. Twenty seven papers were presented which highlighted the different dimensions of student capability and eleven posters on various sub themes. This type of brainstorming of teacher educators is important in the capability building of future teachers and thereby equipping them to transact the skills in their professional life for a fruitful student community. All the participants were supplied with a soft copy of the papers presented during the seminar. The presentations in the form of papers, reports etc. in the form of proceedings are distributed to the participants.
STATE LEVEL SEMINARS
A state level seminar on Globalization and Schooling was conducted on June 8th for discussing the issues and trends posed by the growth of international schools and other similar ones due to globalization. Our honourable manager Shri Vellappalli Natesan inaugurated the seminar. The managers and principals from various institutions participated actively.
Every year we conduct state level Seminars for student teachers from various colleges all over Kerala for promoting innovative teaching among new generation teachers and the best presentations are being awarded with a trophy and cash award. During the academic year 2005-06, a seminar was organized in our college on 'Innovative Practices in Teaching' on 28th March for student teachers from various colleges.
The seminar was a grand success as many of the student teachers from different colleges presented their creative contributions in teaching. Dr. K.R.Sivadasan, former Professor and Dean, Faculty of Education, University of Kerala, Prof. K.R.Sreenivasan, Former Principal, S.N.T.C., Nedunganda, & Director T.E.C Alappuzha and Smt. K.Ushakumari Sr. Lecturer , SNTC, Nedunganda evaluated the presentations.
REGIONAL SEMINARS
Every Wednesday there is a seminar session in the afternoon that provided enriched experiences to the student teachers through the thematic presentations, discussions, debates, open quiz and the like. Many resource persons visited our institution and delivered lectures and classes for the benefit of students. An outstanding guidance programme was organized on 31st January 2008 for parents to tackle the problems associated with public examinations where many local parents actively participated and reduced their anxiety to a large extent. Dr. Justine Padamadan, a well known Clinical Psychologist lead the programme.
WORKSHOPS
UGC sponsored National level workshop was organized on 6th , 7th and 8th July, 2006. Many teacher educators from length and breadth of India participated and got training in the Design and development of multimedia learning packages in secondary education sector. The training was organized with the support of intellectual and technical expertise of very eminent resource persons and technicians. All the participants commented on the effort we have taken in organizing such a useful and relevant training programme.
